for the purposes of explaining myself to whom it may concern

I am seeking a room to rent or as a lodger, what have you?

sharing facilities with the owner/s from early July, paying up to £60 per week / £250 per month cash

I am not looking for a gay share or a student or share with other sharers - thank you.

I quite understand if you require a deposit to cover damages or for early departure and I am ok with that. I offer to do some domestic chores as a way of saying thank you for letting me stay and at the same time demonstrating that I can look after myself and that I am not looking for someone to run around after me. I also offer my professional and practical skills for projects or repairs that you envisage and I feel sure that suitable arrangements can be agreed.

I am looking to pay CASH for your spare room and use your facilities such as bathroom, washer, cooker, perhaps telly on occasion. I can do my own cooking, washing, cleaning and tidying up, returning items used to their place of origin and in as good a condition as when taken. I quite understand any concerns you may have and suggest that short term or even temporary accommodation is quite ok due to doubts and personal preferences with a view to be longer term if mutually suited. You are in total control and I will be able to move out at short notice should you so require. I will be able to stay with relatives. Suitable car parking is essential.
If you prefer that I do not use your washer or cooker etc., other arrangements can be sorted I feel sure.

The reason that I am seeking accommodation from mid May 2010 is that I will be returning to the UK from Cyprus where I have
been staying for some time renovating a property for a friend. I will respect you, your space, your home and your belongings. I am cool, healthy, respectful, reliable, independent, sober, clean and quiet and although I am a non-smoker I am not usually disturbed by one who smokes. I do not play loud music and I try not to disturb others, in other words I treat others how I would like to be treated. I like animals and pets however I do not wish to have one myself. I have no strong views on politics or religion and I am not interested in football, pubbing or clubbing although I like an occasional drink.

I am a professional and practical multiskilled engineer / handyman of 59 with formal qualifications in Electrical and Electronic disciplines together with oodles of experience in plumbing and heating and ventilation also mechanical, hydraulic & pneumatic repairs and installations in domestic, agricultural and industrial environments. I am used to working for myself and
also for large companies.

I am not keen on heights but OK on bungalows and that sort of height. I have designed and constructed this pitched tiled roof on what was previously a flat concrete roof. I have also fitted a replacement bathroom in the same bungalow together with re-plumbing and some additional electrical items.

I usually prefer rural or semi-rural surroundings like villages or towns. I like coastal areas and rural areas. I am not keen on cities at all to live in but I am quite happy to drive in or through cities here in the UK or in the rest of Europe. Coastal or country - no probs. Country town or village - no probs. Smallholding - no probs, in fact I may be quite useful to a smallholder because I have a good knowledge of agricultural machinery including tractors and can repair such equipment.
